How is The RainCycle® system different from other rain barrels?

Rain barrels are a great way to collect rainwater, but have 2 key limitations.  First, they're too small.  A single 50 gallon rain barrel will fill and begin overflowing quickly during a heavy rain- there is almost never enough storage space to capture a significant rainfall event.  The RainCycle® system begins with four 60 gallon rain barrels.  With 240 gallons of storage, you can collect a full 1" of rainfall from a 400 sq. ft. collection area.  When full, The RainCycle® system will support the water demands for a 50 sq. ft. garden for four weeks (60 gallons per week demand) without any new rainfall.

The second limitation of a standard rain barrel is that it is often difficult to access the water inside the barrel; therefore, the captured rainwater does not get used quickly enough.  It's great to have a full barrel of water, but it's better to have a half full barrel when you're collecting rainwater.  We wanted to build a system that made it easy to distribute the rainwater, thereby freeing up space for more rain. We integrated a hand pump and watering hose into the system, so filling watering cans and watering hanging plants is simple.  A special drip irrigation hose designed for gravity feed connects directly to the base of the tanks, so you can supply irrigation water via gravity feed a 50 sq. ft. garden without the need for electricity!

The beauty of The RainCycle® system is in the details.  The hand pump is designed specifically for this system and is easy to take apart to service when needed.  We use high quality brass quick-connect fittings on all of the connections, so switching from a watering hose to the drip hose is quick and easy.  You can add more barrels at any time with an adapter kit- no tools or cutting required!  We use recycled olive barrels that are food grade quality and very durable, not to mention- they're recycled!  The RainCycle® system is assembled in the USA, by people who collect rainwater.

What is The RainCycle® Pro?

For applications where pressurized water is needed, we recommend The RainCycle® Pro.  With an integrated 3/4 horsepower submersible pump and irrigation timer, you can automate your watering schedule and get the most out of your system.  Just plug the irrigation timer into an electrical outlet and plug the pump into the timer.  Set the timer and you're off!  We've included an automatic shut-off switch with the submersible pump system, so you never have to worry about your pump running dry and burning out.  Brilliant!

Is it difficult to assemble The RainCycle® system?

Assembly couldn't be easier!  You can have your system up-and-running within 1 hour.  No tools are required to assemble the system and everything you need is provided with the kit.  Detailed assembly instructions are included.  The RainCycle® system is designed to connect to a standard 2" x 3" aluminum downspout, which will need to be cut where the downspout diverter is installed- a hacksaw or reciprocating saw is required for this step.

How is The RainCycle® system shipped?

We load the barrels onto a pallet and ship directly to you.  Both The RainCycle® 240 and 480 fit on a single pallet, so they ship for about the same cost.  The freight carrier will provide lift-gate service at your home or business, so no forklift is needed.  Once the pallet is on the ground, it's a snap to open up the package and move the barrels into place.

How much will it cost to ship The RainCycle® system to me?

Since we ship via a freight service, we get the best possible rates.  Systems shipped to US locations from Dallas, TX will cost between $150 and $350 per pallet, perhaps more depending on your distance.  Most systems are delivered within 5 working days from the time you order.
